Lights on the Dress Form - Teaching at DSD

Friday, October 30th, 2009

What: Lighting Workshop (Student Projects)
Where: The Scandinavian Design College (DSD)
When: Autumn 2009

A lighting workshop dealing with a different approach to the development of form and design.
Instead of the usual singular-light-bulb-luminaire-workshop, we opted for a more context oriented approach by using the dress forms of the Fashion & Textile Department as backdrop to our lighting sculptures.

MediaedgeCIA II

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

What: New office space
Where: Copenhagen
When: 2008-2009

In autumn 2008 SuperKo did a design proposal for the Copenhagen branch of MediaedgeCIA, part of the worldwide media/communication-company MEC.

MediaedgeCIA II

This was our second assignment from MediaedgeCIA, and just as the first time we did a proposal for MediaedgeCIA, the job was supposed to be “quick and dirty”. The design is therefore not necessarily meant to be buildt, but also to serve as inspiration.

The overall idea behind the design scheme is simpel. A string - with all needed functions integrated - is layed out in the open space, making all working within the office, feel connected to each other, and thereby - hopefully - creating a greater sense of belonging together.

When: Autumn 2008

SuperKo is cooperating with Scan ID about the development of a new in-store concept for kids.

The Dall Stairs

Monday, January 21st, 2008

What: New stairway at the Dall Family
Where: Aarhus, DK
When: Winter 2008

SuperKo has designed a new stairway for an old townhouse in Aarhus, Denmark. The Stairway - as you can see on the photo below - has just recently been installed, and definitely still needs a little more finish, before it is complete.

Anyway the overall design is there and the Dall family is thrilled… and we will be back later on with more photos of the final design.

Lisager

Friday, July 27th, 2007

What: Grocery, Café, Restaurant, take-away and catering all in one
Where: Rolighedsvej 34, Risskov, Aarhus, DK
When: Opened 1. September 2005

[Show picture list]

Lisager is the modern lifestyle shop with a wide variety of groceries, wine and delicacies, together with offering take-away, café, restaurant and catering.

Our main task was to integrate all these many functions into a rather limited number of square meters. We therefore convinced the Lisagers that floating shelves would be the only right solution, in order to maintain the openness of the space. We found the shelf solution we wanted in Gubi´s Shape-Your-Own collection and mounted them two and two on floor to ceiling diamond glass. The placement of the shelves was done in a rather random manner, and thereby adding to the felling of shelves floating freely in space.

Lisager has since the opening in 2005 experienced great success with their unique combination of restaurant, grocery and take-away.

LYNfabrikken

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

What: Café, shop and office in an old industrial facility
Where: Vestergade 49b, Aarhus, DK
When: Opened 1. December 2003

[Show picture list]

LYNfabrikken is a spirited working environment, for a group of designers and artists, which in 2003 had the opportunity to expand with another 170 sqm.

Our job was to create an attractive new environment containing a public cafe, a shop and a small office for to people - all on a fairly limited budget.
The overall idea was to keep the space as open as possible without any walls or room dividers, so the character of the old industrial facility would still be present. The mixing of the different functions within one space also helps create interesting new synergies and the room therefore becomes a natural extension and showcase of the overall idea behind LYNfabrikken.

After the launch in 2003 the place has become the pinnacle in the identity of LYNfabrikken and has helped them secure a massive success and a great deal of public attention.

Gable House

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

What: R&D – case study house
Where: Everywhere
When: Whenever

[Show picture list]

As an architect and designer one of the most frustrating things about working with one-family housing is the often very rigid planning and building regulations.

This house was made as a research project trying to push the limits of design within the boundaries of the building regulations, which is often made out of the assumption, that all houses have traditional pitch roof with a low facade and a high pitch.

The result is a two-story gable house, with the common spaces in the middle and the more private functions located in each end of the house.

Patio House

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

What: Competition entry for a new standard house
Where: Everywhere
When: 2005

[Show picture list]

Not your typical standard house… but an interesting one.

The design is all about the interior and creating light inside the mass. The exterior on the other hand is closed and sculptural in its appearance. The house is suitable for open neighbourhoods and natural sites.

Shell House

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

What: Summerhouse for a carpenter
Where: Djursland, DK
When: 2006

[Show picture list]

The brief was clear; give me a cheap wooden house on poles with a one-sided roof, which I can build myself. We therefore came up with an idea for wrapped outer skin embracing the inner house - like a shell protecting an oyster.

The main facade of the house is made of friendly wood and opening up towards the sun, were as the other facade - facing north - is closed and clad in cheap corrugated metal plates.
